Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with results like these.”

He stated, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it must improve.”
