Ex- BBC Consultants Participate in MPs' Questioning In the Wake of Claims of Bias in Leaked Memo

Former BBC consultants testifying at parliamentary committee

We start with questions from Tory Member of Parliament Caroline Dinenage, who chairs the group.

She opens by offering context to the unauthorized document prepared by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.

"I do not desire the BBC slanting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it balanced, impartial and equitable," he declares.

Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is systematically partial, he answers: "Absolutely not. To be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - encompassing factual and fictional shows."

Nevertheless, he states: "There is real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."

Another former external British Broadcasting Corporation adviser interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it maintains a "persistent practice and vigorous discourse" across evolving and intricate issues.

"Whether the BBC was willing to engage in a genuine conversation and argument and take action?" she asks herself. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
