Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
