Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, the nation," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation other than George Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club that has never reached in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
